Although iReviKit Infrared Mat is designed with easy operation intention, there’re several tips you should notice when using it, especially for pregnant woman and people with underlying medical conditions. Here’re the complete guide and some tips on how to use an infrared mat correctly and safely, for relaxation, pain relief, and even to gain restful sleep.
Using the Infrared Heating Pad Summary
Part 1: Getting yourself ready
- Find a suitable place
- Put your phone on silent
- Wearing appropriate clothing
1. Find a suitable place
To begin, you’ll need a flat surface on which to roll out the heating pad. A place on the floor is the best choice. If you want to use the heating mat on top of your bed, a relatively firm mattress is necessary for the long-term use of the heating mat. This is because of the multi-functional layers with crystals and gemstones construction of the iReviKit Infrared Mat. Furthermore, if you’re planning to use an infrared mat for relaxation, it’s important to have a peaceful space where you’re not distracted in order to fully experience the mat’s relaxing benefits.

2. Put your phone on silent
You can switch the telephone on silent mode. Turn off all notifications so you can relax and unwind without being reminded what’s going on out there. To get the most out of your session you need to be able to mentally disconnect completely.
3. Wearing appropriate clothing
You can wear comfortable clothing that covers your body from foot to neck. A yoga suit or loose-fitting cotton pajamas can be appropriate. Loose styles don’t restrict your body and limbs, feel more comfortable, and don’t resist natural circulation. Choose a loose-fitting top and full-length pants if your whole body will be in contact with the mat.
4. Protect mat with cover (Optional)
If the iReviKit Infrared Mat is your choice for infrared heating, you can cover the entire surface of the mat with the white cotton quilted cover, which is made of 100% Xinjiang cotton and premium 7D hollow microfibers (worth $35-$55, but included with the mat).

This breathable, lightweight, and washable cotton mattress protector will add a comfortable layer between you and the contact surface of the mat. Use the elastic band on each corner, just like you do with our fitted sheets, to hold the cover in place.
5. Maintain Hydration
When using infrared heat therapy, especially when trying to promote circulation, hydration is always important. Be sure to drink at least one glass of water before you begin, and leave some water next to the mat so that you can continue to stay hydrated throughout the session.
Part 2: Turning On & Setting Up
Once all of the preparations have been made, you are ready to begin connecting the cables and turning on the power to the unit.
1. Connection of the heating mat and the power source
The infrared mat comes with a separate controller you must connect to the hardwired part of the mat. Connect the control cord to the hardwired part of the mat and plug the other end of the cord into the electrical outlet. If the length of the power cords are insufficient for your space and power supply, use a power strip with extension cords. to extend the connection.

When everything is connected, turn on the infrared remote control with the ON switch.
2. Set Duration of Infrared Heating Session
Now that your mat is set up and ready to go, you need to set the temperature and duration for your session. Use the smart controller to set both the desired temperature in degrees and the duration in minutes.
You can set a time limit by pressing the time button. There’re four options for heating time: 1 hour, 4 hour, 8 hour, and 12 hour. The default no timer setting is 12 hour. Keep on clicking the button to switch the working time of the mat.
- OH – Heating ON no timer (default 12 hour)
- 1H – Heating ON 1 hour
- 4H – Heating ON 4 hour
- 8H – Heating ON 8 hour.
3. Comfortable temperature
Choose the temperature setting that makes you feel most comfortable. It’s important to start with a lower setting and increase the setting as needed, because the infrared heating pads can become very hot to the touch. Never use the highest setting for long periods as it may cause irritation or burning.
Starting low for beginners
Beginners should start with lower temperatures and durations to allow the body to adjust to infrared heat therapy. Once they feel comfortable, the temperature and time can be slowly increased. Learn more about the best temperature setting of infrared heating pad.
Part 3: Getting started
Once the mat is up to operating temperature and you are ready to begin your session, start the session and enjoy the soothing heat.
The area of contact for pain relief
When using a small infrared heating pad, similar to multipurpose weighted heating pads on the market, you want to place it in direct contact with the area from your back to stomach, shoulders, legs and neck, or body you want to treat.
Laying down on the heated mattress
You can simply lie down on the heating pad and enjoy your session when using a full-size heating pad. Use the controller to adjust the temperature during your session if you want it hotter or cooler.
Relaxation and revitalization
Now you are in place – all you have to do is lie back, relax and enjoy the feeling of deep penetrating infrared heat. A lot of people like to close their eyes at this point and just allow themselves to drift off to sleep. Others like to use the time to listen to some music, a podcast, or even read a book.
When you’re done, you should feel much better – relaxed and revitalized.
Part 4: After the session
When you’ve finished, you should feel much better – relaxed, rejuvenating.
Now it’s time to unplug the heating mat and pack it away.
Roll up & pack away
When your session ends, step off the mat, turn off the hand control and unplug the mat from the wall outlet. Then, allow the mat to cool down to room temperature. Any condensation on the mat will air dry at this time.
After 15 to 20 minutes, and once the mat is cool to the touch, you will be able to roll the mat up and pack it away. Infrared mats roll up very neatly and can be easily stored under a bed or in the bottom of a closet until the next time you need to use them.
Take a shower & change clothes
This is a good time to take a shower and refresh yourself. Most people will have some localized sweating as a result of the use of an infrared heating mat. While waiting for the mat to cool, you can use this time to freshen up and change into clean clothes.
